Baltimore MD: What: Closing Ceremony of New Student Orientation for the Academy for College and Career Exploration (ACCE) When: Thursday, September 2, 2004 Where: ACCE Auditorium Description: Baltimore City schools have not yet opened, but since Monday, August 23, ACCE offers city students a small, personalized learning community. At ACCE, careers in science, government, the arts and technology are prominently featured. The classroom extends beyond the school building and into the city and its many businesses, attractions and organizations. ACCE promotes post-secondary education as the next step for students and encourages students to think of themselves as “Baltimore’s future leaders.” ACCE provides city government a unique opportunity to help catalyze the Baltimore City Public School System toward providing a more meaningful link between high school, college and careers. Through its partnerships with Hopkins, Baltimore City Community College and others, ACCE will allow its students to work with college students and instructors, gaining on-campus experiences. Through its partnerships with the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board and area businesses, ACCE will allow its students to explore careers, participate in internships and paid employment, do job shadowing and more.
