Women Behind the Community, Inc. and Workforce Reception Center Partnering to Help Meet the Needs of Low Income Baltimore City Residents Returning to Work 
Providing professional clothing free of charge to clients in the WRC in their efforts to achieve economic independence.

The Women Behind the Community, Inc. (WO-BE-CO) and the Workforce Reception Center (WRC) are partnering to help meet the needs of low income Baltimore City residents returning to work by providing professional clothing free of charge to clients of the WRC in their efforts to achieve economic independence. The “Dressing Room” will officially open its doors to clients on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The WO-BE-CO is a non-profit community based organization that provides professional clothing to clients referred to the “Dressing Room” as they transition from welfare to work. WO-BE-CO collects donated, ready-to-wear business attire and distribute them to women who are participating in training programs and to help prepare them for the world of work. Once the clients are employed, clients are invited back to the “Dressing Room to select additional outfits to help create a business wardrobe.

The Workforce Reception Center (WRC), a full-service career center specifically for Baltimore city residents who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits. The WRC helps move people from welfare to work by offering job search and placement assistance and enrolling participants in its supported work experience programs (community service and transitional employment) and other training and support service programs including, job readiness seminars and “dress for success” workshops. Services for participants are offered only by referral from the Baltimore City Department of Social Services.
